The Problem

Too many kids are falling behind in reading, and it’s not due to lack of effort, it’s a lack of structured, consistent support that meets their individual needs.

After-school and community programs are perfectly positioned to help, but often lack the resources or trained staff to provide specialized intervention.

That’s where we come in.

Literacy Crisis in the U.S.

OUR SOLUTION

At DysConnections, we partner with after-school and community organizations to provide proven, virtual reading programs, led by experienced master teachers.

  • Virtual sessions that fit seamlessly into your schedule

  • Small groups (max 4 students) for focused attention

  • Personalized support based on each child’s skill level

  • Parent communication tools and extra resources via Google Classroom

Real Results from Midland

Partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Midland, Texas

Thanks to this powerful collaboration, we’ve been able to reach more young readers than ever before:

  • 24 students served at Halff Park in 2024

  • Expanded to 32 students at Halff & Taylor Park in Summer 2025

  • Expanding our impact to 3 new partners this fall

Real Students. Real Growth.

Meet three students who’ve made extraordinary gains through DysConnections:

Jadeyn

Jadeyn is a 3rd grader at South Elementary in MISD. She is reading about a year behind grade level expectations. Despite her reading struggles, Jadeyn has made growth in all areas with us over the span of a year.

Kaimren

Kaimren is a 4th grader, reading on a 2nd grade level. He attends South Elementary in MISD and has made a great growth over the span of a year.

Angelina

Angelina is a 4th grader, reading on a 1st grade level, and has been working with us for about a year. Although she faces significant academic struggles, she has shown progress in every single area of our program

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

  1. Your team identifies the students (we’ll help guide this).

  2. We assess each student and place them in skill-aligned groups.

  3. Groups of 4 meet virtually, 2x per week, for 30 or 60-minute sessions.

  4. Parents get access to Resource Hub for communication, class recordings, and additional practice items.

Overcoming the Funding Gap

We know budgets are tight, and results matter.
That’s why we offer a low-risk pilot program to help you experience the impact firsthand.

  • Start with just 8 students

  • Get 8 weeks of live, small-group virtual reading intervention

Emily Segura

Dysconnections has been an integral part of my daughter’s growth in reading since she began over the summer. Our daughter went from scoring at low achievement in May to scoring at high achievement and growth at the beginning of the school year in August! She was recognized for mastering concepts in reading just last week! She has tutoring via zoom twice a week with Ms. Julie and it has been a great experience. Thank you, Dysconnections!

Melva Ramos

Dysconnections has been such a blessing for not only my son but for mom and dad too! My son is eager to join the classes, he happily sets up his learning area for the day and as a mom who constantly struggles for her son to do anything reading or writing related to hear the laughter and the happiness in his voice when he is answering correctly or understanding is just absolute JOY for me! I am so so grateful for Mrs. Bridger introducing me to Dysconnections!

Megan Myatt

Dysconnections has been a blessing to our family! We have loved the flexibility of the zoom classes. More importantly, my daughter is now reading independently and enjoying it! She loves her tutor Mrs. Julie and has formed a friendship with her classmate. The lessons are challenging, but still engaging and fun! I would highly recommend it!

FAQs

Your Questions Answered: Quick Insights Into Our Educational Support Services.

What age group does Dysconnections cater to?

DysConnections typically supports children ages 5 to 12. However, if your child is performing at a skill level within that range, we may still be a good fit. Every student begins with an initial assessment to ensure we’re the right match and to identify the best way to support their learning journey.

How do you tailor education plans for each student?

We begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand your child’s current reading and language skills. From there, our therapists create a personalized learning plan tailored to their unique strengths and challenges. Each session is built around this plan and adjusted regularly to reflect your child’s progress and needs.

Can Dysconnections help with severe learning disabilities?

Yes — we specialize in supporting children with a wide range of learning differences, including dyslexia, ADHD, and other language-based challenges. Our therapists use evidence-based, multi-sensory instruction to help students make meaningful progress — no matter where they’re starting from.

Are there resources available for parents to help their children at home?

Absolutely. Our therapists are here not just for your child, but for you as well. They’re available outside of session times to answer questions, share strategies, and offer support. You’ll also have access to tools like Google Classroom, where we organize resources and materials to reinforce learning at home.

What technologies are used to assist in learning?

We use Zoom for our virtual sessions and Google Classroom to keep materials organized and accessible for families. We also incorporate WordWall — a fun and interactive app — to reinforce reading and spelling concepts in a multisensory, engaging way.

How do you measure the progress of students?

Every six weeks, we complete a formal progress measure to assess your child’s growth in areas like decoding, fluency, spelling, and comprehension. You’ll receive a detailed report outlining their progress, what’s working, and what we’ll focus on next. Our therapists are also available to meet if you’d like to talk through the report or ask questions.
